What is the Inner Eco Challenge?

The Inner Eco Challenge was inspired by the book written by Donna Gates entitled, “The Body Ecology Diet.” This book contains current information on the need to restore our inner Eco system, hence, the Eco challenge. Donna Gates states that if you follow the body ecology principles you can accomplish in months what most diets take years to achieve. This is cutting edge information and in my experience with suffering from a major physical illness at a young age, I can second that statement. The Body Ecology Diet otherwise known as BED is a lifestyle that strengthens the immune system as well as reestablishing and restoring the environment of our digestive tract. To do this, we have to address dietary changes and supplementation. It is unfortunate that many people turn to handfuls of pills to address chronic illness, whether that be prescription medication or supplementation, our diet needs to be the foundation to any program. In the following entries, you’ll find out what you need to do to join the challenge and what you’ll need to get started.
So, many of you may be asking what inspired the desire to put together such a challenge. There are many reasons, but two main motivating factors. The first reason is that I work as a colon hydro therapist here in Orem, Utah. Each day I see people come in to the office wanting to increase their quality of life. Each person’s reason for getting colonics is different. Some come in because they are so chronically ill and based on the research they’ve done, they’ve decided that colon therapy might be an alternative modality that might help enhance other things they are doing. Others come in due to constipation or other digestive issues such as gas and bloating. Then there are those that want to prevent other issues from coming to the forefront. No matter the reason, dietary changes in one’s life is a must to achieve their desired results. Colon Therapy can only do so much for a person. 80% of a person’s results are based on what they do before, after and in between sessions. So part of this challenge is to give my clients direction in increasing their effectiveness with their sessions. The second reason I am doing this is because Hashimotos Thyroiditis, an autoimmune form of hypothyroid, runs in my family. Donna Gates is one of the first individuals that has addressed this disease in it’s entirety. There are theories that as much as 80% of those suffering from hypothyroid have a form of autoimmune or Hashimotos. Taking thyroid alone will not help in addressing all of your symptoms. You need to address the immune system as well since in Hashimoto’s sufferers the thyroid attacks itself. Again, I believe that this way of life contains the missing link. It is beyond critical to restore our digestive tract to optimal functioning. It is a known phrase in the alternative world that disease begins in the colon. Just as disease begins in the colon, health begins in the colon as well.

At this point you are probably asking how do I start this challenge, and how long is the challenge. To answer the first question you can take a look at the next post that describes in detail how to get started. As far as how long is the challenge, I want people to join the challenge for as long as they desire. That could be anywhere from 3 weeks to a change in lifestyle. There are phases of the challenge. The way you eat during this first phase is not the way you will eat for life, this is just to get optimal results and effectiveness. It is also the first phase to Donna Gates program in her book. I will try to go in to detail as much as I can, but you are more than welcome to buy the book, "The Body Ecology Diet" to get more in depth information on each principle and method. The book goes in to great detail as to why and how.
